The summer cable cars in Lech Zürs take you up to the mountains in just a few minutes from the town centre. The Rüfikopfbahn starts right in Lech and ends at 2,350 metres, where the first stage of the Green Ring and the Geoweg begin.
The Oberlech cable car and the Petersbodenbahn provide access to the alpine pastures above the village, the Zugerbergbahn takes you to the Balmalp with full accessibility, and the Seekopfbahn in Zürs takes you to Lake Zürs. Many of the operating cable cars are included in the Lech Card. Mountain bikes are allowed on board, turning a long climb into a long descent.
Some summer days are not about reaching the summit, but about the journey itself. The hiking bus takes you to Lake Formarin, set against the Rote Wand, the tranquil Lake Spullersee and Lake Zürsersee. These three mountain lakes can easily be combined into a full-day outing.
In the village itself, the Skyspace Lech – James Turrell’s light installation – is well worth a visit, particularly at sunrise or sunset. The River Lech and its tributaries are among the most beautiful fly-fishing waters in Vorarlberg. Surrounded by clear water and a tranquil mountain backdrop, a few hours spent on the riverbank quickly become the highlight of the day.
